Good morning,

we are interested in using goalscape for our company.
There is one point, I don´t understand. At your homepage, I find costs between 80 and 90€ per year. But in some other discussions, you said something about thousands of euros a year. We want to use goalscape on our terminalserver. Could you tell me the difference between the cheaper and more expensive version?

Many thanks and best regards

    Hello Verena

    Thanks for your inquiry.

There are 3 versions of Goalscape:

    • Goalscape Desktop is standalone desktop software that you can use when you are not connected to the Internet: all the processing takes place on your desktop machine and the data are stored as local files (.GSP). It's like other desktop applications like Word and Excel.

The Goalscape Desktop perpetual single-user license costs €89: it covers full support and free upgrades for life; and you can install and activate Goalscape Desktop on two machines concurrently. It also includes a free 6-month subscription to the web version, Goalscape Connect.

    • Goalscape Connect is an online application: all the software and data are on our secure servers. To use Connect you need to be connected to the Internet: you sign in to your account to access and update your online projects. It's like Google Mail or Facebook. You can access your Goalscape Connect account from any computer, anywhere in the world.

Goalscape Connect is sold under subscriptions: 12 months for €89 and 6 months for €49. Each user needs his or her own account.

    • Goalscape Enterprise is a new product for organizations for which data security is a prime concern. It has all the functionality and collaboration facilities in the existing Goalscape Connect web application, with some extra features like Gantt View, per-goal sharing and some additional Admin controls. There are more details in the attached PDF summary.

Goalscape Enterprise can be installed either as a SaaS application (accessed over a private cloud) or as a corporate intranet installation:

      • SaaS application (minimum 10 users)

Runs on your Private Cloud on our servers.

Pricing is based on a per-user license fee with a scale of discounts according to deal size. There is also a one-time setup fee, plus annual server fees.

      • Corporate Intranet installation (minimum 50 users)

Runs on your internal server, behind your firewall. Installation and set-up via VPN or similar link.

Initial charge based on number of users, plus (optional) annual maintenance fees to cover standard updates and patches.

You mentioned "other discussions" where prices of "thousands of euros a year" were quoted and asked about the price differential. I presume the other discussions were those where we were talking about Goalscape Enterprise – and specifically the one started by your colleague Markus Grupp here (I have made you a Watcher on that discussion so you can see the full conversation).

Note that as Goalscape Desktop and Goalscape Connect are priced on a per-user basis, large installations of either of those products also cost thousands of euros. We do a scale of discounts for multiple sales of Goalscape Desktop and Goalscape Connect, starting at 15% for a block of 10 accounts.

So the true comparison should be between the per-user prices of the different products. The higher price of Goalscape Enterprise reflects the extra benefit of absolute data security, as well as the value of the additional business features and sophisticated Admin controls. The per-user prices of Goalscape Enterprise are still only in the hundreds of euros though; and even the Corporate Intranet version is far cheaper than a similar-sized implementation of Microsoft Project Server.

If you want to use Goalscape on your own terminal server you will need Goalscape Enterprise Corporate Intranet version, for which the minimum number of users is 50. Remember that once you buy this server software you own it for ever, so you can defray the cost over time. The annual maintenance is optional – and it is only 12% per year anyway.

If you confirm which version you are interested in and the likely number of users we would be happy to send you a full proposal.

    All the best!
