Converting xls to xml for import
Dear Sir,
Would it work converting an EXCEL file into XML using a converter and afterwards upload into Goalscape? Any proposition concerning the right convertor?
Is there already some progress in the add-in to import an EXCEL-file directly? Would be nice tool...
Thanks. Best regards, Frédéric

Hello Frédéric
Thanks for your inquiry.
Goalscape .gsp files (which you can open in Goalscape Desktop or upload to Goalscape Online) are in fact XML files with their own syntax and semantics to define goal relationships and attribute information. You can see the format for yourself if you open a .gsp file with a text editor.
Several of our customers have built their own import tools for .xlsx (and .html) files. These use a parser to 'organise' the input (to look something like the file generated by exporting a Goalscape project to .xlsx) and a mapping to define what spreadsheet cell values map to which goalscape data and enforce the relevant Goalscape terminology for location and attributes.
We are still investigating a general import mechanism, including options to integrate via Zapier or Jira; we cannot however indicate a delivery date.
Enjoy the journey!
Richard
