ipad
I purchase Goalscape for my clients and am getting more and more complaints that they can't use either the app or the online version on their iPads. Yes, there are workarounds, Puffin etc. But they are battery hogs, and clunky. Goalscape is essentially a couple of years or more behind the times in being iPad compatible, and this is something that needs addressing promptly. It's such great software, but it's not user friendly in the way it should be.1155

Hi Crane
Thanks for your post.
The reason that iPad users have to use the 'clunky' free Puffin browser to access Goalscape Online is that the iOS versions of browsers available on the iPad do not support Flash applications, while Puffin does: this means that it can be used as a way to access Goalscape Online with all the major functionality (iPad control and keyboard limitations notwithstanding).
Users of the Microsoft Surface Pro and some Android tablets can in fact install and activate the standard Goalscape Desktop software on their tablets. I confirm that we are also working on 'full native' versions for iPads and Android tablets.
In the meantime, Goalscape Unlimited users can also access the Goalscape Mobile app, which syncs with their online projects to deliver daily goals and tasks to phones and other mobile devices. It is available on the App Store and Google Play.
Existing customers with paid-up Goalscape Connect subscriptions have been converted to the new Goalscape Unlimited account, so they can use the 'up into the cloud' button to upload existing Desktop goalscapes (.gsp files) to Goalscape Online. Those whose subscriptions have expired have been switched to the new Goalscape Free account: this means that they can still access the Online version with full functionality on one project only. In the past, those with expired Connect subscriptions could only access their online projects in View mode, so the new account provides additional free functionality.
You have a perpetual Goalscape Desktop license: I confirm that this is still valid and you have spare permissions available to activate further installations (you can download the latest version here).
Your Goalscape Connect subscription has however expired, so to upgrade from Free to Unlimited you will need to renew your subscription. Your account was originally set up through Colin Guthrie, so you may wish to contact him about any renewal. I have added Colin as a Watcher on this discussion.
Keep achieving great goals!
Richard

Hi Crane
Quick follow-up based on input from the development team.
In 2016, for online projects we will give our users the option to move away from Flash and the browser by making the Goalscape Desktop (GSD) app capable of accessing both the online (client/server) and local (.gsp file) projects.
Also in 2016 we will release a version of GSD that uses a native OS installer package. This will give GSD and the user independence from the (problem-prone) local AIR installation. This build will still use Flex (internally), but the user will never need to worry about the local AIR environment.
Our Goalscape Mobile app (GM) obviously uses the same server to provide access to the same set of Online projects. The GM client relies on HTML5, Javascript and Google Polymer and uses the latest technologies like Web Components (http://webcomponents.org/). This code base will be developed further into a fully functional (Mac + Windows) desktop native app.
All the best
Richard
