Hi - I'm back using Goalscape and have just upgraded to the new format. I've uploaded the old 'Master Sailboat Racing GSP file and started editing it for myself. I want to apply two tags (Onshore, On Water) to each goal and generally it is simply a case of clicking on tag field and selecting one of these, but for some goals it seems not to save the tag. I click on the tag field, select one of them but immediately afterwards it blanks the tag out again. It also seems fairly random as to which goals it either works or doesn't work with. Am I doing something wrong?

    Hello Karen

    Welcome back! Sorry you have had trouble.

    Please could you confirm whether any other changes are affected (Add, Move, Delete, Rename goal, add Notes, etc): after making a change, refresh the browser to check that the change has been saved.

    If it is only the Tags that you lose, it may be that there is something wrong with the Tag_IDs on that copy of the goalscape you are using. We have seen this sort of thing happen in cases where goals with the same tag are copied across goalscapes; we have not however seen it on direct uploads.

    • Did you start with the original blank template 'Master the Art of Sailboat Racing'? If so, and you have not made many changes to the original, please start again with the fresh copy attached (includes corrections and updates).

    • Or, if the .gsp file you uploaded was one that you had been working on in the Legacy Goalscape Online app, and you have made a lot of changes to the original template (that you want to keep), please either post that .gsp here, or Share it with us in the Web App (as [email blocked], with Administrator access): we will inspect it for errors (specifically in the Tag_IDs) and, if possible, 'clean it up' and send you a new .gsp to upload.

    I've downloaded the new version of the plan and started to edit it to suit my sailing (singlehander). The error still seems to occur with tags apparently not being saved, but if I return to the homepage and then reload, 9 times out of 10 it seems the tags are there. Assume it must be a problem saving back to the cloud or similar.

    Sorry you are still having trouble, even with the new template.

    We still cannot reproduce the 'disappearing Tags' issue you reported here, so your answers to the following will be very useful to us in our investigations.

    1. Do you have a set of repeatable steps that trigger the error every time (eg 'Add Tag to goal > Select another goal > Select original goal: Tag has gone')? Or is it an intermittent error?

    2. A screen capture (or a set of screenshots) to illustrate the issue would be particularly helpful

    3. Please confirm whether any other changes you make to goals are affected by a similar issue – especially Responsible (which is functionally the same as a Tag): after making a change, refresh the browser to check that the change has been saved.

    Note too that you can test whether the Tags (and other changes) are 'fixed' by simply refreshing the page (you do not need to go via the home page): that loads the latest copy saved on our server.
