Goalscape is crashing
Hi,
I'm still using the trial version of Goalscape. I love the software. I think it's brilliant. However, every day the program crashes and I lose everything that I haven't saved. This is very frustrating, which forces me to save the program every minute or so just in case it crashes.
I am running Windows 7, 64 bit.
The files that I have created go as deep as 12 to 15 levels in sections. I'm not sure if this is an issue with how big the files are. As for the size of the biggest file I am working with at the moment, it's only 193 KB.
I hope that this is something that can be resolved, as a really like using your software package and look forward to purchasing it once the trial expires.
Cheers,
Adam

Hi Adam
Sorry you have been having trouble. Can you give us a bit more details on the crash?
Does Goalscape crashes at a known time every day (say every day at 10pm)? This is to rule out if no other service or task is closing Goalscape by default.
Do you see the performance going down as you use the application throughout the day?
Like adding a goal takes more time close to the point of crashing than in the morning.
The best way you can help us track this down is by sending one of your .gsp files so we can run it on our end and see if it's content related. Of couse only if you don't have private information in it.
Also, if you didn't already do so, please download the latest version of Adobe AIR from http://get.adobe.com/air. Both AIR performance/runtime and Goalscape application take advantage of the new version.

Hi Adrian,
I've updated to Adobe 2. I'll see if this resolves the issue.
It doesn't happen at a specific time during the day, but rather randomly throughout the day.
When it happens the Goalscape I am working on freezes and disappears to the side of the screen (within adobe air) and I am unable to get it back. The only way to fix it that I have found is simply to force the program to shut down and then restart it again.
Thanks for getting back to me. I'll test out the new Adobe Air version and see if this fixes things.
Cheers,
Adam

Hi Adam,
Interesting. We haven't heard from anyone else on this subject and we're interested in establishing why is it happening on your environment. When pie disappears to the side of the screen, is that left side and half of the pie is still visible?
Next time it happens, can you do a printscreen and attach it on this ticket?
We're also working on autosave which will save data as you work with projects. This will assure that no data is lost by any crashes.

Hi Adrian,
That sounds great. I'll do a printscreen if it happens again.
Yes, it does disappear off to the left and a part of the pie is still visible.
Cheers,
Adam

Hi Adam,
If AIR 2.0 does not fix the issue ...
Do you have a 32 bit OS (Windows or Mac) you can install GoalscapeDesktop on, to test use the same GSP file/project with the same usage pattern?

AIR 2.0 seems to work much better. I have had the application freeze once, however it was minor and it allowed me to shut it down automatically. Will see how things go over the next couple of days.
Cheers,
Adam

The program has only frozen once over the past few days, and I've been using it quite extensively. I wont read too much into that as it could easily be due to other factors not related to Goalscape.
I purchased the software yesterday, and am very happy with it :)
Keep up the good work guys.
Cheers,
Adam
