task/goal list
I absolutely love the visualization aspect of your product. Beyond that, I can't figure out how I would effectively use it for my daily tasks/goals. Do you allow me to view my list of things to do? Can I filter them? Can I export them into a spreadhseet, other views, other charts, etc. Can I see a mind map view of them?
Here's my dilemma. I can make all the pretty wheels of Goals and subgoals. But then when it comes time for me to make my working list foe the day I don't see how that's possible with your product? Am I missing it? Obviosuly there are tables and fields behind all of this pretty visualization. Do you have plans in the near future to give the user access to this in different views, a linear table outlay, etc.
I've spent my entire weekend looking for a product that visually gives me what you offer (because I love it!) , but then gives me all the other advantages of mind maps who allow several different views and manipulation of that data.
Thanks,
James

Hello James,
thank you for your friendly feedback.
Your dilemma is our dilemma - but we have a cure. We are working hard to make Goalscape just as useful for everyday operational work, as it already is for strategic planning.
We will implement a listview very soon. In the next two days we hold a workshop to finalize the UI for it. This list can be filtered by person, day, importance, tags, searchwords or a custom defined search. It will be designed to support a GTD like workflow. The webversion will allow collaboration and our first calendar to be integrated will be google calendar. We are also thinking about the possibility to synchronize Goalscape with MS Outlook. Since Goalscape data is stored in a open xml format, it will be possible in the future to plug Goalscape into other applications like MS Outlook MS Project or Basecamp to name a few.
Until then, there is a workaround that works reasonably well: You can use keywords as tags in your notes area or in your responsible person area. If something is a to do, just use the label TODO as a responsible person. If it is a phone-call use the label CALL in the responsible field for example. When you search for a tag like that, the search will display all goals that own this tag. This works for us, but we want more of course.
Be assured - Goalscape will become what you want it to be. But great software does not come about in a rush. If its not what you need now, please come back from time to time to see how it grows. And feel free to let us know in more detail what you want it to do for you. We are always grateful for any feedback.
