Import from a list (txt/xlsx)
Hello there,
First of all: Love your product. I use it to track the progress of my clients and it is so far the best solution to keep an overview and also track of the details.
My question: I collect goals/open issues during a meeting as a list. Afterwards I want to quickly add them to Goalscape. My approach so far is to create a subgoal, enter the first issue, hit control-shift-g, enter the next one etc.
Is there a better way to quickly create several subgoals?
A list could look like this:
- create corporate identity
- plan next sales event
- order business cards
- ...
I'd like to copy the list, mark the goal, paste and every item becomes a sub goal.
Is something like that possible?
Best regards,
Steffen

Hello Steffen
Thanks for the great feedback!
Right now you can import data from other applications like mindmapping tools and MS Project; there is however no 'general' import mechanism to create goals based on data in text format.
We are investigating ways to provide such a facility, probably initially based on importing from a CSV file (rather than a text or WP list). This will allow users to import complete goal structures (goals and subgoals at different levels) with separate columns for attribute information like Relative Importance, Responsibility, Start and End dates, etc. This will be similar to the format in the existing CSV export; goals with empty columns will be created with blank or default values as appropriate.
Thanks again for taking the time to post your suggestion. We have also published an online survey where you can comment on some proposed new features and suggest your own ideas. We always listen to our customers: responses on the Survey (and posts here) directly influence our development priorities and work schedule.
Enjoy the journey!
Richard

Hello Lorenzo
As you may have noticed, we have now delivered the 'Import CSV' feature we discussed!
For more information (and a How-To video) see our blog article. The full requirements for the CSV source file are in our Knowledge Base.
For the use you describe, you can upload (or import) your Meeting Goals/Issues as a new Goalscape project, then select the main goal and copy the whole thing into your main (overall) project.
Keep achieving great goals!
Richard
