Can I feed Goldscape with data
Hi, Like the concept as a top level dashboard, but was wondering if data can be fed into Goldscape e.g. if "Sales Target" segment was £100,000 for the month and today we have sales of £85,000 I don't want to actually go in and amend the segment manually to 85%, that's too much like hard work. Can Goldscape suck in a daily data file? Thanks

Hello Nigel
Thanks for your inquiry.
We are investigating ways to provide a general import mechanism – probably via a CSV file (using column headings similar to those in the current CSV export).
Note though that you can use Goalscape as your central reporting tool. Rather than logging sales somewhere else and transferring (say) monthly totals to Goalscape, you could instead register closed deals by completing the relevant bottom-level subgoals (to 100% progress), then the progress will aggregate into the parent goals automatically. To make this process easier we are also working on providing support for the use of absolute values (rather than percentages).
There is a Goalscape online Survey, where you can comment on some proposed new features (including absolute values) and add your own suggestions. We always listen to our customers and the opinions in the Survey (and posted on this forum) directly influence our development priorities and scheduling.
Enjoy the journey!
Richard

Hi Richard,
Thanks for getting back...
From reading your email I'd require both, .csv import mechanism and absolute values to be in place. I don't suppose you have any idea of timescales for either/both of this items?
Cheers Nigel.

Hello Nigel
Thanks for the follow-up.
We use Agile Development so our schedule is inherently flexible and we do not indicate delivery dates for specific features until we are testing them immediately prior to release.
Nevertheless the functionality already provided in Goalscape should certainly be of benefit to you. Please could you provide some details of how you are working right now – and indicate which tool(s) you are using (especially if any of them provide a visual representation of your project goal structure, with the capability of bulk data import).
If you are working with others (both colleagues and clients) on shared goals you should really be using the web application Goalscape Connect. It supports all the major functionality of the standalone Desktop version and has some cool collaboration features like presence and update indicators, shared attachments and Goal Chat (per-goal IM with inline attachments and email notification options). There are more details in the attached pdf.
You and your contacts can all register for the free trial of Goalscape Connect here – or just click the 'Sign up for free' link on the sign-in screen itself.
Enjoy the journey!
Richard

Hello Nigel
As you may have noticed, we have now delivered the 'Import CSV' feature we discussed!
For more information (and a How-To video) see our blog article. The full requirements for the CSV source file are in our Knowledge Base.
We have also implemented the 'Absolute Values' input you requested. This is currently available only in our corporate product Goalscape Enterprise; we may deliver it in a new 'Goalscape Plus' product (as an upgrade to Goalscape Online) at some point in the future.
Keep achieving great goals!
Richard
