free trial period stops automatically
Hi,
I couldn't find any notion whether my trial period will stop automatically, or if my credit card will be charged automatically in case I miss the end of the fortnight.
Can you tell me exactly where I'm up to?
Thank you.
Marjanne

Hello Marjanne
You have registered for the Goalscape Free account. This is not a free trial: it provides free use of the web application Goalscape Online for as long as you want, with no time limit.
So you can sign in here and create one online project (30 goals maximum) and share it with as many people as you like (even other Free users).
To gain the full Unlimited access to Goalscape Online (unlimited number of projects of unlimited size) you can purchase a Goalscape Unlimited subscription ($6 per month recurring) or a Goalscape Desktop license ($60 one-time payment – includes 6 months Unlimited subscription) on our Pricing page.
Unlike some companies, we do not require those registering for the Goalscape Free account to enter any credit card details or any other billing information (we regard that as unethical – or at least sharp practice). So we cannot charge you anything unless you choose to purchase an Unlimited subscription or a Desktop license (you can pay by credit card or PayPal).
If there is anything else you need to know please post again.
Enjoy the journey!
Richard

Dear Richard,
The most akward thing happened: I couldn't access your service unless I
registered my credit cards details and postal address. I must admit it did
feel a bit as being subjected to a form of 'evil design'.
So either the policy has changed, without informing you, or something else
went wrong.
Can you delete my credit card details just to be sure I am 'only' engaged
in the free trial period?
Thank you.

Hello Marjanne
That is very strange! Adding credit card details is definitely not a requirement for creating an account – it never has been and never will be. It is not possible to access the 'add credit card details' page until after you have created a Goalscape account.
I confirm that we do not have your credit card details stored anywhere that is accessible to us – and no transactions have been made on your account. We have a record of your Goalscape Online Free account creation at 12:30 pm today, after which you will have received the confirmation email (subject 'Goalscape sign-up confirmation').
The most likely way that you entered your credit card details is if you clicked the 'Get started' link on our Pricing and Features page (see 'Pricing page Free' screenshot) again, after you created your account (maybe by using the Back button in your browser). That would have taken you straight into our Customer Portal (see 'Logged in to portal' screenshot), which is probably where you added your credit card details by clicking the '+ Add' link next to 'Payment Method Information'.
Note that in order to arrive at that page, you must already have had an account (and were logged in to the customer portal).
The only other way to access that page is to log in via the customer portal – if you are already logged in, when you click that link you will go straight to your account; if you are not logged in, you will need to log in with your username and password. Either way, you need to have an account before you can reach that page.
If that is not what happened for you, we are very keen to establish exactly how you entered your credit card details before you created an account! These are the steps to create a new Free account – please could you indicate (if you can remember) where the process you followed deviated from this:
In the Goalscape Free box on our Pricing + Features page, click 'Get started' (see 'Pricing page Free' screenshot)
That should take you to the 'Create a new account' page, where you enter and confirm your email address, provide your real name, set a password, agree to the EULA and click Continue (see 'Create new Free' screenshot).
You should see the message 'Thank you for signing up to our free plan', with confirmation that you will have received an email and the links to sign in to Goalscape Online, reset password, download Goalscape Desktop, etc (see Thank You - Free Plan' screenshot).
You would also have received the Goalscape sign-up confirmation email (if you did not receive this please check your spam and junk mail filters).
Your post does however raise an interesting issue. Once you have added your credit card details you can change them by going back into your account via the customer portal; you cannot however delete them. Note that for full security, even you cannot access all the existing card details: this is to protect customers who may leave a computer unattended while logged in to the portal. Since your card details are completely inaccessible to us until you make a purchase, we cannot delete them from your account either.
So if you are concerned about this, we are happy to delete your entire account: then you can re-register for a new Free account under the same or a different email address (without entering your credit card details!). If you wish to do this please post again to confirm. If you have created an online project that you wish to keep, you can sign in to Goalscape Online and download your project as a .GSP file and save it somewhere on your hard drive. When you set up your new Free account you will be able to re-Upload it.
Sorry if this seems complicated! This is the first time that anyone has reported having to add credit card details while creating a Free account, so we really want to find out how it happened to you.
All the best
Richard

Dear Richard,
I remember I pressed the button with the circle around it.
Then, it took quite a while. I got to the second page where I had to fill
out my credit card details. I found that an odd request for a free trial
period but alas, I gave you the credit(card details).
I never saw the third and fourth screen.
I must say, it is an akward feeling that neither you nor I can check or
ensure where my financial details went.
For all that it would help - please do delete my account, I will hook up
with your service maybe again some time later.
Kind regards,
Marjanne

Hello Marjanne
OK, no worries – I confirm that we have deleted your account.
Goalscape Online and customer portal sessions are persistent across browser use and computer restarts; and user status information is only updated at the start of each session. So if you are still signed in to Goalscape Online or logged in to our portal you will need to sign out/log out: after that you will find that you can no longer sign in/log in with your existing credentials.
I confirm that you can re-register for a new Free User account any time (without entering your credit card details!) under the same or a different email address.
All the best
Richard
PS Don't worry – we do know where your credit card details went: you entered them into your already-existing account. However we could not access them – this is in fact a positive security measure that protects all our customers. We agree though that there should be a way to delete them and we will update the portal functionality to provide this facility.

This comment was split into a new discussion: Goalscape images and hyperlinks
Hi Richard,
I was wondering if the Goalscape images are clickable, when exported to a
website, and the distinctive pies can be linked to internet pages?
Thank you in advance,
Marjanne
