Desktop Version Upgrad
Hi,
I am a pastor. I can see great potential and need for me to use Goalscape. However, for me, I'm wanting to purchase the desktop app so that I am not paying for a subscription. If I let the free subscription lapse, is there any other way to pay for a major upgrade if one were to be rolled out?
thanks,
Eugen Bach

Hello Eugen
Thanks for your inquiry.
Short answer: yes, if you buy a Goalscape Desktop license you can pay for any major upgrades simply by purchasing a month's Online Unlimited subscription (this is free for the first 6 months).
Goalscape Desktop and Goalscape Online are two separate yet compatible products: Goalscape Desktop is standalone desktop software and Goalscape Online is a web application.
You currently have a Free user account for Goalscape Online, which means you can create 1 online project (30 goals maximum) and share it with anyone you like – even other Free users.
If you purchase a Goalscape Desktop license you will be able to activate the standalone software on one machine at a time for ever. The Goalscape Desktop license includes a 6-month Unlimited subscription for Goalscape Online, which means you can create (or upload) an unlimited number of online projects of unlimited size and share them with others – you can even share large projects with Free users and give them Edit access (1 such large editable project per Free user).
Goalscape Online updates are free and are available for both Free and Unlimited users. Goalscape Desktop updates are provided for all new Goalscape Desktop license holders who have a valid Unlimited subscription (free for the first 6 months).
If you choose not to renew your Unlimited subscription when it expires, your Online account will revert to Free user and you will no longer receive Goalscape Desktop updates. You can revive your Unlimited subscription any time: you will regain full access to all your Online projects and you will be able to upgrade your Desktop installation.
So if you purchase a Goalscape Desktop license you can allow your Online Unlimited subscription to lapse after 6 months, then only purchase a month's subscription every year (or whenever we release a major upgrade), just to receive the Goalscape Desktop updates. Used in this way, the 1-month Unlimited subscription ($6) is effectively an (optional) 10% 'maintenance fee' for Goalscape Desktop that you can pay whenever you like (or not at all).
If there is anything else you need to know please post again.
Enjoy the journey!
