Is it possible to change from percentage to a numerical value for the goals or does it have to be a percentage?

    Hello Trent

    Thanks for your inquiry.

We are considering ways to implement the input of absolute values rather than percentages for both Importance and Progress, along with selection of relevant units (currencies, time, etc).

Note though that the relative importance of a goal may not be directly related to the cost of completing it, and progress will not necessarily be related to time spent. Some important goals do not cost much money; and a goal will certainly not automatically be completed when we have worked for the amount of time allocated to it.

We do though recognise that some people would find the use of absolute values very useful and we are working on it.

We are about to release another set of updates – watch out for announcements.

    Enjoy the journey!

Okay great. Any ETA on when absolute values might be available? My dilemma is that I have goals that relate to customer contact so thin I need to talk to 20 customers in a month. Having it as a percentage I have to figure the percentage out in a different tool then put that into this system, dual work. However, if I could just put in the number that would be great. I am very impressed with it so far but before buying would like to know when that feature would be available.

    Hi Trent

One of the benefits of Goalscape is that replaces false 'precision' with a visual overview that is richer and more useful (in terms of deciding what to do next) than 'the numbers'. So you can drag the progress slider to indicate 'rough' progress – the number doesn't really matter until you are about to complete a goal (100%).

In your example, you do not need to do exact calculations of the percentages: if you have to do 20 calls a month and you have done 7, you know it's roughly a third, so you can drag the slider to anywhere around 33 (it's just as informative as the 'real' answer of 35).

We operate agile development and never give delivery dates for new features. I can tell you that 'absolute values' is in the schedule though!

    All the best

    Richard
