Linking sub-goals
Is it possible to have a single sub-goal that supports the achievement of more than one parent goal (e.g. a subgoal of 'go running with Marie' would support both 'get fit' and 'see friends more')?
I know that I can copy a goal into more than one place, but I can't figure out if it is possible to link the copies so that (for example) updating progress on one automatically updates the other - i.e., so they act as a single goal, rather than as two discrete ones. I want to use the 'tag' function to flag something else entirely, so don't want to rely on that either.
Thank you!

Hello Annis
Thanks for your inquiry.
Yes: we are investigating ways to support 'synergistic' goals – those that contribute to more than one parent – possibly by providing a facility to 'clone' goals (rather than the current Copy function). This is however not a trivial task, since updating an attribute (Progress, dates, notes, etc) in any instance of a clone will require all other instances to be similarly updated at the same time. (Of course this does not apply to changes made to the Importance, since that depends on the relationship of each instance to its neighbors.)
In the meantime you can create a synergistic goal as a subgoal at the same level as the goals it contributes to (or as a level 1 subgoal). You can also use (part of) its name as a Tag, which you can apply to all the goals that depend on it (wherever they are in your project). Then you can find them all using the Highlight sidebar (see video here).
In Goalscape Online, each goal (and each field within that goal) has its own URL. So you can link a synergistic goal to all those to which it contributes by including its URL as a hyperlink in all their Notes fields (and vice versa).
Enjoy the journey!
