Import from MS Excel

Hi,
I can see in the support forum that you are working on a function for importing Excel data into Goalscape. This would be really nice to have since we use a lot of web questionnaires to gather date for the Goalscape projects.
What is the status of this functionality?
I'm aware of the workaround to go through MS Project to get things into Goalscape from Excel, but I don't like it.

   Thanks for your inquiry.

   Yes: we are still investigating a general import mechanism, including options to integrate via Zapier or Jira; we cannot however indicate a delivery date.

   We have heard from customers who have built their own import tools for .xlsx and .html; however since you are not a fan of the 'import via MSP .xml' workaround you would probably not want to take such a route.

   As soon as we have any news about our .xlsx importer we will let you know.

   Is there a chance that I can take a look at the API to Goalscape? I have some pretty good developers here who claims they can get the data in there if they get the API.

   Hi Mats

   Goalscape does not have an API as such. Goalscape .gsp files are just .xml files with specific syntax and semantics to define goal relationships and attribute information. You can see the format for yourself if you open a .gsp file with a text editor. So the existing import mechanisms use a parser to 'organise' the input (order of presentation of goals) and enforce the relevant Goalscape terminology for location and attributes, then generate a .xml file in the correct format and change the file suffix to .gsp.

   If your developers need any more information please post here and our developers will respond. Or if you want to look at the .html importer built by bumper314 (currently Mac only) I can give you the instructions for downloading and using it.
