Goalscape Online Save As command and Markdown support

In the Desktop version, I have been using Goalscape as my daily log throughout the day, keeping my tasks, projects and routines in there. Each morning, I change the Central Goal to today's date and update the map to reflect today's priorities. It really keeps me on track by measuring progress throughout the day. Once set up, I would Save As today's date, then zero out my progress on routines, delete completed tasks and add new tasks throughout the day.

I've now switched to the online version. Is there a way to rename and save my map but NOT lose yesterday's map?

Also, are there plans in Version 3.0 to support Markdown?

    Hello Tom

    Welcome back!

In Goalscape Online you can indeed create different instances of the same project, exactly as you have been doing in Goalscape Desktop. To do so:

    1. Using the 'down from the cloud' button at the top of the screen, download the existing project (the one with yesterday's date in the main goal) as a .gsp file and Save it somewhere on your hard drive – the default filename for the saved file will be the main goal name.

    2. Using the 'up into the cloud' button, re-upload the same .gsp file to Online: that will create a new instance of the project in Online.

    3. Change the main goal name of the new instance (to include today's date).

NB we do not recommend doing this with Shared projects for several reasons: every time you create a new instance of the project you will need to re-Share it with all your collaborators; then they may be confused by all the different versions – or worse, you may miss changes that others make to the previous version while you are creating the new one.

To clear up your workspace you can Close yesterday's project (and any previous instances). All your previous (Closed) instances of the project, identified by the date in the project name, will be available from your User Projects List (UPL) under the Home tab. They will also be wherever you saved them on your hard drive, so if you wish you can Delete the old versions in Online using the functionality in the UPL.

Keep achieving great goals, stay safe – and have a marvellous '21!

    Richard
PS Incidentally we cannot trace any Goalscape Desktop license for you under the email address you are using to post here – did you purchase it under a different username?
