Hello Phillip
Good to hear from you again – sorry you have had trouble.
I confirm that you have spare permissions on your account so you should certainly be able to Activate your latest installation of the Goalscape Desktop app by entering your username and password at the Welcome screen (see the attached screenshot).
Remember that your perpetual Offline license is under the username [email blocked] (not the [email blocked] address you are using to post here).
So if problems persist when you try to Activate Goalscape Desktop using the correct username and password please post again with a screenshot of the entire application window, showing any error messages.
All the best
Richard

Hi Richard
Good to speak again. Well I have successfully activated the license with your guidance but something very strange is making both Goalscape Online and Desktop very frustrating to use.
2 Keys on the keyboard (namely the e and d keys) do not work correctly. Pressing e opens emoji selection and d makes a sound but I’m not sure what it is doing. What makes this worse is that I found that ctrl-e and ctrl-d fix this but needless to say this is entirely unnatural. Checked a bunch of other apps running at the same time on the Mac and they are all find.
I assumed that there would be a shortcut mapping or something but I cant find anything. Any ideas?
Best regards

Hello Phillip
Sorry you have been having trouble.
We cannot reproduce the error with the 'd' and 'e' keys that you have experienced. Neither of those keys is a hotkey shortcut for any operation in Goalscape (even with a modifier); and there is certainly no 'emoji' feature in either Goalscape Online or Goalscape Desktop (although I understand it is a feature of some keyboards).
The most likely cause is something affecting how the keyboard is working on that machine: possibly in your settings, or in the keyboard itself (although it does seem strange the error is affecting both Goalscape apps, but no others). To narrow the issue down to that machine (or keyboard), please try installing Goalscape Online on a different machine and see if the same thing happens (and/or, if you are using a separate keyboard, try a different keyboard).
You can also try uninstalling and reinstalling the apps (your Desktop installation will not need to be re-Activated).
If problems persist, please post again with the following details:
Model of your Mac computer (and approximate age)
Version of macOS you are running
Make of keyboard (if separate)
All the best
Richard

Hello Phillip
Quick follow-up: did you ever find out what was causing this weird anomaly (pressing 'e' brings up the emoji menu)?
You mentioned that using the Ctrl modifier prevented the odd behaviour... did you ever find a permanent fix? Or did it only happen with certain hardware?
Best
Richard

This comment was split into a new private discussion: Keyboard issue: 'e' key brings up emoji menu
Hi Richard
No we tested all sorts of things but it was not affecting any other application.
Checked keyboard and mappings. Also looked at accessibility (long shot) but no. Certainly dramatically reduced usability.
Anyway then delivery pressures for the consulting tasks meant we left it and resorted to spreadsheet export.
Cheers

Hi Phillip
Oof. Thanks for the additional information. It's definitely not a Goalscape command: Goalscape doesn't use any hotkey for 'e' (even with a modifier) – and it doesn't even support emojis anyway.
I does seem to be a macOS issue: I found this on the Apple support forum: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8111102 – those affected say that restarting their machine fixed it; and someone else posted some instructions for a fix (with screenshots).
We are still unable to reproduce the error so are a bit stymied in our investigation of it. Please let me know if any of the fixes on that Apple forum thread work for you – or if you find any other fix, of course.
Al the best
Richard
